Dhurandhar teaser review

The newly released first look of Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan as the unknown men, is the talk of the town and here’s why!

The thing with watching violence, especially gory violence, is that it can be eclectically exciting if it’s done thoughtfully and in sync with the story. Otherwise, it’s just mindless bloodshed. The same goes for spy thrillers. They’re thrilling the first time, no doubt. However, when films begin to adhere to a fixed template and stick to it, every spy story starts to feel hollow, with nothing new to say, which is exactly why the teaser for Dhurandhar comes as such a special surprise as it overthrows your idea of a spy thriller with letting you buy into the film's madness with its gory violenec. This isn’t a teaser trying to impress with over-stylised entries or gratuitous gore. Sure, there’s a sense of excitement in the fragmented glimpses we get, but what also stands out is the mysticism that is intentional and calculated. Because look at how the teaser dropped out of nowhere with no hype or warning, suddenly appearing on Ranveer Singh's birthday as if to introduce a long-MIA Singh return to the screen in a way we didn’t realise we’d been missing. And now, his silence makes sense. Because if this is the result, then disappearing, going off-grid, and getting down to work was the best strategy, as it looks like he is back, not with noise but with impact.

As for the teaser itself? Crazy is written all over it. Until now, little was known about the film being a spy thriller inspired by Ajit Doval’s missions, infiltrating terrorist camps and gathering intelligence. But judging by the teaser, the story seems to dig deep and maybe draw from the real-life journey of Para SF commando Mohit Sharma, an undercover operative who lived as Iftikhar in the 90s to infiltrate terrorist groups and eliminate threats from within, right on the brink of a major India-Pakistan escalation. We catch flashes of Ranveer Singh playing a master of disguise preparing to go undercover, and there’s an undeniable Khilji-like intensity. Over two minutes and thirty-nine seconds, the teaser builds an atmosphere thick with violence, secrecy and tension. But one thing is immediately clear- this is a spy thriller like no other!

The world Aditya Dhar (URI: The Surgical Strike) introduces is wild, unhinged, and soaked in blood, filled with a maddening energy that pulses through every frame. Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal show up looking absolutely unleashed- ready to slice, shoot, or burn it all down. At the centre of it all is R Madhavan as Ajit Doval, calmly orchestrating what seems like a massive takedown. As heads are beheaded, gun blazes all around and bodies are hung from trees, smoking becomes part of the visual aesthetic. And the music- a old punjabi track wrapped in Hanumankind's rap that binds hypnotic trance and high-octane soul elevating every shot. Every frame screams spectacle and every look hints at menace. Which is why since the release of Dhurandar's first look, there has been no calm amongst the janta who has gone down in all praise and excitement for it!

Dhurandhar drops in theatres on December 5, 2025. And after this teaser, everyone including us are officially counting down the days for the film! What did you think of the teaser? Tell us in the comments below!
