Climate Change and the effects of pollution have been a major issue for quite a long time now. Many have been working and protesting for officials to take proper measures to help find a solution to it. Pollution is one of the major reasons behind the growing climate change issues. And a scientist recently mentioned that it is growing to become a threat to human fertility. According to Dr. Shanna Swan's report that pollution is causing shrinking human penises.
Swan writes that phthalates, a chemical used when manufacturing plastics, that impacts the hormone endocrine is leading to an "existential crisis" in fertility rates. A growing number of babies are being born with small penises, as per the report. The research began with her examining phthalates syndrome which is observed in rats. Shanna discovered that male human babies who had been exposed to the phthalates in the womb had a shorter anogenital distance.
There was more than a 50% drop in sperm levels among men in Western countries as per a study published in 2017. The study was conducted over the past four decades after examining 185 studies involving close to 45,000 healthy men. And according to the new research, Dr. Swan believes that by 2045 most men will be unable to produce viable sperm.
