Check out what Pranay Anand had to share:

How did your journey begin?

"I used to enjoy photography as a hobby. Slowly I started to explore more and came across the concept of digital content creation. From there I started learning image and video editing, going about searching designs and ideas on Pinterest. (Now I get more 100k+ monthly unique visitors). Then I got a side push when I observed that often my friends used to consult me for clothing and grooming. That’s when I realised my knowledge and potential and hence, went ahead with this very niche of fashion, lifestyle and self-development! A started with a very small audience, mostly my known ones. I kept learning about different social media platforms, used to gather feedbacks regarding my content and now we have a community spread across India consisting of men who are willing to grow and redefine their  personality."

What according to you makes your content stand out?

"I am always up for creative and unique ideas to work on and deliver the best in order to attract the potential audience. I believe creativity is my USP and I always try to put out content that actually leaves an impact in the other person’s mind. You would find my content like that mouthwatering cheesecake you’ll be having after a grand feast and hence, you’ll be always satisfied with it!"

How do you choose what to promote on your feed and what not to?

"Well, there are a few hard rules to the ethnics and a few soft roles to the aesthetics.

Am I adopting that? Will it be adding any value to the life of my audience? Is my way or process good and simple enough to put out the message? What’s the long term impact of my content? These are a few questions I rely on while taking the decision. Also, Instagram being an aesthetic platform, I totally consider that aspect as well. Following a colour palette, a theme is a few key points but not at all rule-bounded."

One instance/experience that made it all worthwhile?

"Recently, I nearly made it to a reality TV show based on fashion. I got to know so much about myself, where I stand, what are my strong points, what I need to work on. This experience was worth all, doesn’t matter if I made it through or not. This event made me realize, yes, I’m doing it right, I’m on the way and we’ll get there!"

What does a regular day look like for you?

"Some days are fine while some turn out to be really hectic. Usually, it starts with outdoor shoots, if any. Post that, we catch up on emails and plan the day ahead. Then, we get on the scheduled calls with brands and agencies. Going ahead, try to engage with my audience, be it messages, comments, etc. Brainstorming ideas, creating mood boards, scheduling content for future, adapting growing strategies comes next. We then shoot indoors as well, if needed. Also, checking up on ad campaigns, tweaking them for optimal performance and designing new ads to keep growing doesn’t go away. Finally, catching up with the audience again, makes the day end on a good note."

How do you make moolahs?

"Well, just like any other business, I provide value in terms of content creation and audience. Usually, I opt for long term associations with brands I find valuable.

I always bring propositions to the table drawing a win-win situation. Apart from direct promotion and content creation for brands, I often deal with affiliate marketing but try to avoid it as Instagram offers a single bio link (3rd party applications to build more links often ruin the user experience for the audience)."

Where do you get inspiration for your posts from?

"Well, I try to consume and gather meaningful content from a lot of platforms, be it Pinterest, Instagram or even YouTube. I always save or drop the article onto my idea board for later usage. Specifically, Quyen Mike and DevanOnDeck on Instagram and Parker York Smith on YouTube are my go-to place for inspiration and ideas."

Have you ever received a weird or funny brief from any brand for collaboration? Please share, if any.

"Often, when brands approach with barter collaborations, that’s a joke in itself! Haha! My hair colour is originally black. A brand asked me to anyhow turn my hair colour to white/grey and then showcase their product which turns my hair black. Like seriously?"

If not an influencer, what would your full-time profession be?

"Well, currently, I am working as a Data Scientist as well. Adding to that, I might consider exploring other art forms for my full-time work. Probably, music production would be my first choice because I already have experience in that and really enjoy diving deep into details of any sound and drawing out meaningful music from it. Just mixing those sounds, hitting that beat and achieving nirvana, gives me that kick!"

Any message/tips for upcoming bloggers and influencers?

"There is so much to say here but I’ll just put out a few subpoints to keep it brief.

Consider it just like any other business and always have a strategy: Create, Promote, Measure, Analyse, Optimize. These are the essential steps people often forget. Keep experimenting, value your audience, support other creators and of course, learn to say no!

Tip: Network as much as you can. One may even create a media kit that comes handy in

networking while putting your work out."
