Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi got released in theatres on the first day of 2021. Written and directed by actor Seema Pahwa, for whom this film is also her debut in direction.
The film, Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi took the risk of being released in theatres under such circumstances with a stellar lineup of brilliant actors. The film has Naseeruddin Shah, Manoj Pahwa, Vinay Pathak, Supriya Pathak, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vikrant Massey, and a host of supporting actors.
Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi is an ingenious satire about those middle-class families where the death of the head of the family leads to a change in the dynamics of its members. Secrets are unburied and things that were never spoken of are finally out in the open. The story starts with Ram Prasad’s (Naseeruddin Shah) death. And how his entire family of four sons (Gajraj, Manoj, Pankaj, Nishant) and two daughters, along with their respective spouses and kids all gather at their ancestral home in Lucknow for 13 days to perform rituals.
During this period, they get involved in discussions, harmless taunts, arguments, casual conversations, and some revelations. The biggest revelation being that their dead father has left a bank loan for them to repay. Apart from the dilemma about who is going to take care of their ‘amma’ (Supriya Pathak) now that she’s left alone in the world after her husband’s death. The film looks hilarious and an apt representation of a middle-class family from its trailer.
Here is how the people are reacting to the film after watching it in theatres:

Film: Ram Prasad ki tehrvi is a film a lot of people would love if they haven’t seen Em ma yu by Lijo Jose. Yes, comparing two films is often sinful but not if it compresses what I think about the audience loving the former!
