While people wait for the US Supreme Court to state the fate of TikTok, American citizens are rushing to join its alternative, Rednote.
It is not news that America has been wanting to ban TikTok, a popular short video platform forever. The app that is banned in multiple countries is one platform that is considered to be an integral part of entertainment among American users. However, the app has been investigated under the accusation of stealing and sharing American data with China. As the talks of its ban continue, American citizens have already found a new alternative. The funny part? This new app, Xiaohongshu, also known as “Little Red Book,” or “Rednote” is one of China’s biggest platforms that has gained instant popularity among the American population.
This migration was happening after users started anticipating TikTok to go potentially offline. Calling themselves the ‘TikTok refugees’, Americans began downloading Rednote, jumping on the bandwagon and joining Rednote as an act of defiance against their government’s stance on TikTok. According to reports, the app gained nearly 250 million views and over 5.5 million comments as more than 700,000 users joined the app within the span of two days. With features similar to Instagram, the app was founded in 2013 and already had over 300 million users.
What has people talking about the app is the way Chinese users reacted to Americans on the platform. Intrigued by the positive welcome and hilariously wild interactions on the platform, people are calling this out as a positive cultural exchange that the world needed. From people talking about their wholesome interaction with people to getting notifications that make a 'Chinese spy joke', many have been sharing reactions on why they think people should join Rednote.
Here are some hilarious reactions to the app

I downloaded the app and checked it out and it's currently thousands of people from America and China all laughing and meming together. Chinese users will post a cat saying "I'm stealing your cats data!" and then they laugh and share cat photos with each other https://t.co/EfQ3NbMOuz

This is too funny. You have many of the Americans thirsting over Chinese creators in the comments and vice versa. These are some of the comments Chinese netizens have left 😂😂. They are so nice and welcoming. #littleredbook #rednote https://t.co/VJWs4M2vKd pic.twitter.com/LuIOiF0Zz0
