Becoming the face of Indian Table Tennis, Manika Batra is an inspiration to young women across the country.

Sports in India is not just about Cricket, thanks to a number of sports personality in India who are taking the world by storm with their game and representing the country globally. We have people making a mark in sports like swimming, heptathlon, gymnastics and a lot more. One such sport that is putting the country on the map is Table Tennis, and it is players like Manika Batra who are winning over the world with their impressive performances.

Manika Batra is a 24-year-old top-ranked Indian female Table Tennis player. Hailing from a family where her sister and brother both play the same sport she started playing at the age of four. She won her first under-8 tournament and since then she has dedicated herself completely to the sport to the level that she dropped out of college to concentrate on table-tennis.

She has won a number of laurels for the country on a global level and won Gold at 2016 South Asian games. She also won gold and silver medal in the 2018 Commonwealth games in the Women's singles, doubles and mixed becoming the first Indian Table Tennis player to win at the Commonwealth Games.

She was awarded with the highest sports honour of India, the Arjuna Award in 2018.

It is said that a number of modelling offers came her way, but Manika Batra stuck her feet to the sport and continued to hit the ball. However, she did appear on the cover of Femina and Vogue magazines.

But her dedication towards the game is surely something that continues to inspire us.
