Thackeray Review: Nawazuddin shines in the political drama

Bal Thackeray aka Bala Saheb biopic ‘ Thackeray’ hits the silver screen today, the movie starring Nawazuddin Siddique and Amrita Rao is directed by Abhijit Panse and written by Sanjay Raut. Lets see what all the fans have to say about this another biopic.

In much awaited movie, Nawazuddin Siddique is seen playing the role of Shiv Sena's leader Late BalaSaheb Thackeray and the resemblance is uncanny. The movie depicts the journey of BalaSaheb Thackeray from his birth to foundation of Shiv Sena and beyond. The film chronicles the life and times of the charismatic leader whose legacy continues to live on through his words and deeds. His aura and his style impressed his followers and he was also fondly called ‘ Tiger’.

The movie also stars Amrita Rao who is playing Bal Thackeray’s wife Mina Thackeray.

Before the movie released there were some hindrances faced by the film where the Censor board had issues referring to the Babri Masjid and the South Indian community. The censor board had suggested "audio modifications" - in a couple of places.

"There is no question of a ban, this is Thackeray. Nobody can ban Thackeray," reacted  Shiv Sena spokesperson, Rajya Sabha member and the movie's writer Sanjay Raut.

For this Anti- South Indian biopic the Telugu and Tamil stars slammed this movie earlier on Twitter. 

Nawazuddin has repeated 'Uthao lungi bajao pungi' (lift the lungi and *'#$ him) in the film #Thackeray. Clearly hate speech against South Indians... In a film glorifying the person who said it! Are you planning to make money out of this propaganda? Stop selling hate! Scary stuff!
