Starring Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, the Param Sundari trailer feels like a modern day Chennai Express and we’re not complaining!
The trailer for Param Sundari is finally out and we see a fresh new pair on-screen! The trailer begins with Param (Siddharth Malhotra) and Sundari (Janhvi Kapoor) in a church flirting with one another. Param is shown to be a boy from Delhi who arrives in Kerala and meets Sundari. The makers have already released two songs from the film and we hear both of them in the trailer as we see the titular couple’s romance blossom amongst aesthetic backdrops. A lot of filmy references, some South Indian stereotypes and a whole lot of silly banter later, the pair is seen having a major conflict in the trailer. Sundari accuses Param of playing with everyone’s emotions and it seems to be a breaking point in the film.
From her accent to where the film is set, a lot of it reminds us of Chennai Express. The tonality of the film seems like a light hearted rom-com just like the hit Rohit Shetty film. Whether the movie manages to have a stand alone moment or become a modern day version of the popular film is something only time will tell! The trailer ends with Sundari lecturing Param on how all of the South Indian states should not be clubbed as ‘Madrasi’ and each one of them is different in their own way and she does that in a rather hilarious way! She names the most famous actor in each of these states to make it easier to understand. For instance- Tamil Nadu has Rajnikanth, Kerala has Mohanlal, Andhra has Allu Arjun and Kannada has Yash. It definitely becomes a stand out moment in the trailer and brings out the many cross cultural differences between the leads! Produced by Maddock films, the film is set to release on the big screen on August 29!
