Just when people were starting to revive from the shock of the Asifa rape case, another brutal happening is thrown at us. A two and a half years old girl, Twinkle Sharma of Tappal town (near Aligarh) in Uttar Pradesh was found near her house –mutilated, acid thrown on her body, and eyes gouged out.
The two accused, Zahid and Aslam, are arrested and have reportedly admitted to the crime (read: sin) committed by them. Police suspect that Twinkle Sharma was kidnapped on May 31 from her house due to personal enmity; apparently her parents had failed to repay a loan of Rs 10,000 to the accused. She was found on 2nd June, two days after the kidnapping, thrown in a dumping ground in her house. What kind of a demon have you got to be to able to do something like this, we will never know.
Many have come out in her support on twitter, and we can only hope it makes a difference.
The victim’s father has demanded that other family members of the accused also be arrested as it could not have been done without their knowledge. He has threatened to start a fast unto death from tomorrow if no further arrests were made. I cannot even begin to imagine the trauma, the pain, and the heartbreak that the parents of this innocent girl are going through.
Humans have become a bigger threat for our race than anything else. There are no words that can describe this inhuman, barbaric, and heinous deed.
