The former two-division UFC World Champion Conor McGregor announced his retirement from the sport via a tweet. The featherweight and lightweight champion is one of the biggest names in sports.

Conor McGregor, stepped-down with a 22-4 record after he announced that he was done fighting. The Irish player has made similar statements in the past- retiring’ in 2016 and 2019 before joining the sport again. In 2016, he tweeted, “I have decided to retire young. Thanks for the cheese. Catch ya’s later.”

The game just does not excite me, and that’s that,” McGregor told ESPN on Sunday. “All this waiting around. There’s nothing happening. I’m going through opponent options, and there’s nothing really there at the minute. There’s nothing that’s exciting me … I don’t know if it’s no crowd. I don’t know what it is. There’s just no buzz for me”, he added.
