In an eventful match yesterday between India and Australia, India defeated the Kangaroos by 36 runs and a wave of pride ran through the country. But there’s another reason for us to be proud and that is our captain who has proved that he is a perfect gentleman.
During the match, there was a point where Australian player Steve Smith was fielding near the boundary and Virat Kohli was batting. He heard the Indian fans booeing Smith by calling him a cheater. Kohli immediately requested them not to do that and to just cheer instead.
With India fans giving Steve Smith a tough time fielding in the deep, @imVkohli suggested they applaud the Australian instead.

He also apologized to Smith later on behalf of the crowd.

For those of you wondering why the slurs were used, it was because of the ball tampering case that the Australian team was clouded by a while ago.
Twitter was all pride and praises for Mr. Kohli!
Pretty Amazing. Virat was booed off in Sydney few years ago but, as the world turns, i am sure many Aussies would respect Kohli more than they do today. In one of the biggest stages, he chose to stand up for a fellow athlete. Out of the top draw! #IndvAus #SpiritOfCricket
