Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt released in theatres on February 25. Let’s find out what the janta had to say!
The larger-than-life, much-awaited, kind of a biopic, Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt as the main lead finally released last Friday. But there was immense chatter around the film since the time its trailer was released either on our social media with the impersonation of dialogues and dance sequences or the legal controversies surrounding the movie. The film is (not entirely) based on a chapter from Hussain Zaidi’s Mafia Queens of Mumbai and follows the story of Gangubai, a feisty moon prostitute who became the savior of Kamathipura.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali with his usual stylistic elements, colors, costumes, set, camera, music, and visual high paints an aesthetic mood of the Kamathipura of the 60s. And Alia Bhatt as the moon prostitute, Gangubai, looks as visceral binding as ever. The film also stars Ajay Devgn (Lala), Vijay Raaz (Hijra Razaibai), Jim Sarbh (journalist), Seema Pahwa (Gangu’s pimp/prostitution homeowner), and Shantanu Maheshwari (Afsaan, Gangu’s lover) in pivotal roles. But as the film’s finally released in theatres after being postponed a few times, let’s check out what the Janta actually felt after watching the film!
Here’s what the janta has to say about Gangubai Kathiawadi!
