K-drama boyfriends

K-dramas don’t just entertain me, they spoil me silly and raise my standards when it comes to finding ‘the one’! Here’s what my ideal type would really be like!

As a single woman, watching K-dramas could be one of the most dangerous things you could do to yourself! Let me explain why. You’re constantly drooling over hot men, they’re not just green flags, they’re an entire green forest so you’re expectations are ruined forever. Lastly, they do all of this so seamlessly that they actually make you believe that such hopeless romantic situations can happen IRL!

Simply put, once you’re in this black hole, there’s no turning back! As an avid K-drama fan myself, I often have conversations with my besties about what kind of man I’d want to date and I always end up giving them examples of these fictional characters from K-dramas. I mean I’m just a girl, standing in front of my TV, expecting Byeon Woo-Seok to run all the way from Korea and land outside my doorstep - sue me! Just like every year, we’re back to that time of the year when everyone is talking about falling in love, getting married or going on trips together. As a single woman, all I can do is love vicariously through my favorite K-drama characters! Or dream of one inspired by them!

Here’s what the recipe for the perfect man would look like!

One who'd save my life like Sun Jae yaaaa!

Honestly, if your man can’t fall into the lake and save you, is that even love? The scene where Sun-Jae ya tells Im-Sol he’d happily die saving her in every timeline, that's quintessential K-drama at its peak, and I would consider myself very lucky if I meet someone who is even half the man that Sun-Jae is!

Who’d love me for who I am and not for my appearance like Jung Joon-Hyung

While looks make the first impression, they definitely don’t last forever. Jung Joon-Hyung loved Kim Bok-Joo despite her weight. So the day I meet someone who makes me feel like a 10 even on days I feel like a zero is when I’ll know I’ve met the one!

Who has no limit to his credit card like Kang Tae Moo

Remember the lyrics from Sheila Ki Jawaani? “Paisa gaadi mehenga ghar, I need a man who can give me all that” Yup, Kang Tae Moo is who she was talking about! He defines these lyrics and how! Every girl loves to be pampered by her man a little and I’m no exception either!

Who’d love me like Baek Hyun Woo even if I lost my memory

Anyone can love you when you’re hearty and healthy but it’s about the one who stands with you when things go wrong. It takes a lot to love someone who isn’t in the best of conditions in terms of their health and there really cannot be a better test for love than that!

Who’d literally cross borders for me if he has to like Captain Ri

If Captain Ri can go from North Korea to South Korea to be with Yoon Se-Ri, I think expecting someone to find their way to me from South Bombay at least shouldn’t be too much to ask for.

Who’d literally go to space and get me a piece of the moon like Gong Ryong

Car drives are too outdated! I’d love a good space walk together, tbh!

Who’d fight all my enemies with me like Yoo Ji-Hyuk

I expect to marry a team player so if he is the one, my problems become his problems and then we brainstorm on how to change our fates together!

Whose love language is acts of service like Chae Hyun-Seung

Sometimes happiness is someone who just feels like home at the end of a long day. Someone who’d massage your feet, or cook a fab meal for you when you haven’t had the best day at work. Contrary to what most men think, it’s not about the extravagant gestures for women, it’s all about the little things!

Who’d share an umbrella with me in the rain like Seo Joon-Hee

Who doesn’t love a good old filmy umbrella romance in the rain?

Lastly, someone who has an aura like Lee Young-Joon!
