World Humanitarian Day 2020: Thanks to all the aid workers for providing life-saving support during the pandemic and assuring us a safe and healthy life today. We salute you, your dedication and grit!
World Humanitarian Day 2020 is dedicated to the aid workers who are involved in humanitarian services by risking their own lives. World Humanitarian Day is celebrated to create awareness about those affected by the crisis of the world.
The date of 19th August was chosen as it marks the anniversary of the Canal Hotel's bombing in Baghdad, an event in which the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Sergio Vieira de Mello and twenty others sacrificed their lives.
"These real-life heroes are doing extraordinary things in extraordinary times to help women, men and children whose lives are upended by crises," reads Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres's quote on the official website.

On World Humanitarian Day, people are encouraged to take efforts to support the world’s poor and needy. In present times, it is important that we learn about the war and tragedy-stricken countries and find ways to volunteer while keeping the safety precautions in mind.
Always discuss the situation around the world with your friends and families so that the discourse helps in spreading awareness. Educate yourself and others to understand the plight of those in the war zones.
Netizens pour in wishes and share heartfelt stories of the superheroes from around the world:

“My work is a part of who I am. When you help someone who is injured you feel that you did something good, something to be proud of. You do not feel that in other jobs.” Abed told WHO team.https://t.co/3xQmDFBP2g pic.twitter.com/jxJ2GN41ZX
I never thought my first “real job” would be as an aid worker in Bosnia during the war in 1994. Here I am 20+ years later, still lucky to work with refugees. Today I think of all the refugees & colleagues around the world working together on the frontlines. #WorldHumanitarianDay https://t.co/IqVbfviaXu
