You might want to consider these ideas to add some sparkle to your spruce. Don't forget the key to this is to have fun and have a merry festive season with your family and loved ones.

Here's what Garima Gautam has to share with us!

Lights

Any Christmas tree is incomplete without lights and it's recommended to use 100-150 mini lights per foot if you're aiming for a brightly lit tree. These days you can also purchase pre-lit trees if you're running short on time. I personally love using mini string lights on Christmas trees for creating a twinkling full-bodied look. You can also use a large bulb or icicle lights if you're looking for a subtle glow for your tree.

Classic ornaments

If you're a beginner when it comes to decorating a Christmas tree, then I would suggest opting for come classic Christmas ornaments like bells, candy canes, baubles, stars, garlands, snowflakes, reindeer, etc.  You can also pick ornaments for your tree according to the color theme you have picked up like white and gold or gold and red. Going with a color theme makes it easier for you to pick the ornaments.

Tree topper

Although tree toppers are optional when it comes to decorating a tree, they do give a fishing look to the Christmas tree. Tree toppers usually sit on the topmost branch of the tree and stars or angels are the most commonly used tree toppers. You can also DIY a bow as a topper for your tree.

Dried orange slices

Dried orange slices are my favorite element this season. You can slice orange or any citrus fruits into round slices then bake them in the oven or sun dry them for a few days. Once they're completely dry, you can use them as ornaments and hang them on your tree. They not only add a beautiful rustic touch to the Christmas tree but also carry a lovely citrusy fragrance.  They're organic, eco-friendly, and easy on the pocket!

Tree skirt

Tree skirts are a great option for accessorizing your tree and hiding the tree stand in case you're having a faux tree.  Tree skirts are also an option in numerous designs starting from fabric skirts to wicker ones and you can pick one which goes with your theme. You can even use crates, wrapped cardboard boxes, tin buckets as Christmas tree skirts.

Ribbons

I think ribbons bring in the classic Christmas vibe and I love using them for decorating. You can use wired ribbons easily available on e-commerce websites for adding the classic Christmas touch to your tree. You can use the ribbon as a garland on the tree, make a tree topper from them or add vertical ribbon strand pieces for adding volume into your tree.

Family photos

Adding family photos is such a fun way to add warmth and personal touch to your Christmas tree. You can get polarized style pictures printed and hang them around the tree using clips or you can also use string lights that come with picture clips. Easy Peasy!

DIY paper ornaments

If you're crafty then nothing like it. You can DIY some paper ornaments like a gingerbread house, stars, honeycombs, angles, and the sky is the limit. You can turn this into a fun family activity and include kids as well. You can use newspapers, brown shopping bags, pages from any old book and turn them into something beautiful.

Minimal decor

Minimal or Scandinavian style Christmas trees decor is also gaining a lot of popularity over the last couple of years. Less is more is the philosophy behind this style and you can decorate your tree with led candles and some neutral color ornaments like white, green, black, and grey.

Dried flowers & grass

Holiday decorators are adding dried flowers like rose and grass like wheat stalk and pampas to their Christmas trees. This is the hottest trend that's gaining a lot of popularity this year over various social media platforms. You can just place the dried grass between the branches of your artificial tree and hang dried flowers from the branches.

Vintage ornaments

I am a big fan of vintage ornaments and if I could I would decorate my tree with just vintage ornaments. The old-world charm vintage elements bring in is beyond words and they truly make Christmas look magical. Some of my favorite vintage elements are mercury baubles, beaded, and embroidered ornaments.

Burlap

Burlap is such a versatile element when it comes to decorating a Christmas tree. You can make a tree skirt out of it, use it as a garland, and even make a bow tree topper using it. Burlap is a perfect element for adding a boho-chic touch to your Christmas décor. It's a pocket-friendly option as well.
