Netflix's latest release, 'Malcolm & Marie' has received mixed reviews by critics. However, Tweeple seem to be praising its rawness.
Last Friday, Netflix released Malcolm & Marie, a 2021 American romantic drama film. The film stars John David Washington and Zendaya in lead roles and is written-directed by Sam Levinson. The film revolves around a couple- a director, Malcolm Elliott, played by John David Washington and his girlfriend, Marie Jones, played by Zendaya. Their relationship is going through turbulent times. Also, it is tested on the night of the director's latest film's premiere. In a black and white frame, the couple discusses the film, their lives, the film industry, and society in general.
While the film is currently the talk of the town, the talk is not either black or white. The film has received mixed reviews from critics across the globe. On Rotten Tomatoes, 58% of 165 critics gave the film a positive review, with an average rating of 6.4/10. While some critics have found the commentary and cinematography to be breathtaking, others have found the screenplay to be too stretched.
As soon as the film started streaming on Netflix, netizens took to Twitter to express their views of the film. However, most of the tweets speak in favour of the film citing it as "toxic but raw and authentic". Also, Twitterati has especially loved Zendaya's acting and the chemistry of the on-screen couple. Therefore, to sum up the general Twitter reactions of people, we have collated some of the tweets made by the audience.

This movie was so intense in the best possible way. It showcases the brutally honest nuances of a relationship, their passion, their art their pain, insecurities and past relationships, how the love they share for one another supersedes everything. pic.twitter.com/3Tf0damlRj
I see articles shading this movie, but this is how some relationships are. Everyone only likes the good and the positive just like social media. This is vulnerability, struggles, sorrow, insecurities, authenticity. Marie just wanted gratitude and appreciation. #MalcolmAndMarie pic.twitter.com/W98wdXJYdN

That was the most toxic shit I have ever witnessed (besides my first relationship) . I- 😳 Shit is so real though. I’m shook at how well Marie was able to hold her composure cause I would have been on some nut shit then left his ass 💀. #MalcolmAndMarie pic.twitter.com/NNCR4TVjOg

I loved Malcom and Marie because it showed a side of relationships that most people hide from. It’s exhausting to watch yes but that shit is raw. you will have times like that where you have to be brutally honest even if it hurts. It helps in more ways than one. #MalcolmAndMarie

watched #MalcolmAndMarie a second time tonight and I'm still a bit struck at how many people dislike it. It's genuinely the most raw and realistic film that I've seen and the fact that they made it safely during the pandemic just makes me even more amazed. Damn near perfect. pic.twitter.com/o1aSI9Y1yN

Malcolm & Marie was good it was the thank you scene for me cause if u ever been in a long term relationship with somebody that u bent over backwards for and would have moved heaven and earth for. It be the little things that hurt the most like a simple Thank You!#MalcolmAndMarie pic.twitter.com/r3GtXlRzvJ
